Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Registered Nurses (RN) to join our team at a Critical Access Hospital. The ED RN provides high-quality, patient-centered emergency care across the lifespan, often working independently while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. This role is ideal for nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, rural healthcare environment and value broad clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients of all ages, including triage, assessment, treatment, and stabilization
  • Respond to trauma activations, medical emergencies, and urgent care needs
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency interventions per protocol
  • Operate and assist with emergency equipment (cardiac monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, etc.)
  • Collaborate with providers, EMS, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care and transfers
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
  • Educate patients and families regarding care, treatment plans, and follow-up
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current RN license in the state of practice (or compact license)
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred:

  • Emergency, ICU, or acute care nursing experience
  • PALS and TNCC (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in rural or critical access hospital settings

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move patients as needed
  • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced emergency situations
  • On-call or callback responsibilities may be required
