Reddit Strategist (Copywriting & Community Management)

Other Jobs To Apply

As a Reddit Strategist, we expect you to serve a mid-level role in client success for our Reddit clients, while also representing our agency account on the platform. You work alongside your colleagues and on individual projects while further developing your abilities to handle more complex accounts. This position requires strong copywriting skills, community management, and a love of Reddit. You should be extremely-online, but understand how to navigate that fine line for a brand.

Job Responsibilities

  • 60% Content creation & community interactions on Reddit, including posts, comments, DMs, Chats, and any other messaging system the platform adds on.
  • 15% Community management, including subreddit moderation and growth.
  • 15% Client communication and collaboration with other departments.
  • 5% Reporting on Reddit results (currently done through Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Gummy Search, Reddit Pro).
  • 5% Always Optimizing to improve our agency’s processes and results, as well as establishing best practices for handling Reddit as an agency.

How We See Reddit

Of all social platforms in 2025, Reddit has the most potential. Brands are dipping their toes in the water, and their leadership post-IPO has taken significant steps to become more mainstream. We’re very conscious of the fact that Reddit’s community has been…less than friendly to corporate presence in the past. Our agency believes that brands can become good community members by participating on the platform as Redditors first, and the brand second. We abide by Reddit’s TOS – no upvotes, or botnets here. We’re confident that by providing good content that actually makes Reddit more interesting to scroll, our agency (and clients) will succeed. Or at the very least, make it a more fun front page of the Internet.

Job Requirements

If you’re looking for a place to grow where your work (and you) will be appreciated and rewarded, you’ll find a home at Online Optimism.

You must have at least:

  • Experience posting on Reddit. (See, you always knew that would pay off!)
  • Knowledge of the platform’s intricacies that goes beyond posting and upvoting. You should know how to create a Subreddit, the difference between mods & admins, what flair is, and be familiar with their Reddit Pro features.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging social media content.
  • A strong ability to brush off criticism from the Internet. As much as we work on creating a great presence for our brands, haters gonna hate. Being great at shrugging it off and going onto the next post is key to succeeding in this role.

This is a shorter list than usual for our requirements for a mid-level Strategist role at our agency, but we’re very aware that the right person for this job likely isn’t going to have “3 years of experience writing on Reddit as a brand” since that doesn’t really exist on resumes yet. We expect candidates with a variety of experience (journalists, stand-up comics, etc.) to all do well in this role. To that point…

The strongest candidates will have:

  • 2 to 4 years of creating content marketing or social media in a professional setting for businesses/organizations.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous digital marketing campaigns, content marketing, or social media work.
  • A past (or current) job at a marketing agency working for a variety of clients.
  • Previous experience communicating about marketing work with stakeholders.
  • Degree in English, marketing, advertising, public relations, or communications.
  • Utilized SEO tools, particularly SEMrush.
  • Utilized external Reddit tools like Gummysearch.
  • Utilized analytics tools including Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Looker Studio.
  • Knowledge of social media best practices.
  • A love of Reddit and its community. If you remember Victoria, or came to Reddit from Digg, you’ve been here for a while. Time to get compensated.
