Special Events Coordinator

Position Description:
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of on-going and new fundraising events assuring revenue goals are reached or exceeded. Events include, the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon, Junior Achievement Golf Classic, and the annual Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame Dinner & Auction. The incumbent organizes fundraising events, develops timetables, sells sponsorships and assures the efficient and timely operation of the event.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, organize and manage all special events for the organization to assure schedules are maintained, budgets are met and revenue goals are attained.
- Develop and manage all event committees to set priorities and assure tasks are completed.
- Manage and direct volunteer recognition, and coordination for each event.
- Solicit and maintain corporate sponsors, solicitations, and in-kind donations by developing year round cultivation, recognition and stewardship program. Record all transactions in appropriate database and thank you processing.
- Maintain and upgrade the event checklists. Report progress for each event in a timely manner.
- Manage negotiations for venues and vendors for each event.
- Coordination and design of event marketing materials for JA Lincoln’s special events including graphic arts, production, printing and distribution.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of special events management and sales related experience with a record of strong performance, proven written / oral communication and organizational / planning skills.
- Proficient computer skills with functionality of the MS Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and / or evenings.
- Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing; excellent public speaking skills; adept at writing proposals, solicitation letters, donor correspondence, and other material related to fundraising.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work in multiple environments, year round temperatures, lift at least 25lbs, sit or stand for long periods of time, typing or using a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability and disciplined in handling confidential information with a sense of urgency.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
