The role will involve assisting in the evaluation of new venture capital investments, performing detailed financial analysis on existing investments and providing ongoing monitoring of the complete venture capital portfolio. The Venture Capital Analyst will create detailed analysis that supports the Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures team and key financial reporting stakeholders.</p> <h3>HOW YOU WILL DO IT:</h3> <ul> <li> Ability to build detailed financial models and create valuation analyses using multiple techniques including comparable company, comparable transaction and discounted cash flow analyses.</li> <li> Create industry overview pieces to influence and support where Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures should be investing.</li> <li> Provide detailed business due diligence as part of investment evaluation process.</li> <li> Support the investment team in the creation of investment due diligence memos prepared for the investment committee.</li> <li> Lead the ongoing valuation and performance tracking of the entire venture capital portfolio.</li> <li> Interact with senior members of the venture capital team on a daily basis and engage with key business partners across the organization.</li> </ul> <h3></h3> <h3>BRING YOUR BEST! WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:</h3> <ul> <li> Four-year undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or mathematics and a track record of academic excellence.</li> <li> MBA or 1-3 years of investing experience preferred.</li> <li> A broad knowledge of investing and venture capital, an understanding of the economic forces affecting the industries we invest in.</li> <li> Proficiency in accounting, strong financial modeling skills and a deep intellectual curiosity.</li> <li> The ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders including senior leadership.</li> <li> Proactive, forward-focused thinker.</li> <li> Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.</li> </ul>
