About the Whitman-Walker Legal Services Internship
Interns will work on cases from a range of practice areas that we handle, including immigration, assistance with federal and local public benefits (including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and ADAP among others), future planning, health insurance appeals, discrimination, workplace rights, medical debt, insurance navigation, consumer rights, and name and gender changes. Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, by phone and in person. Under the supervision of a licensed attorney, responsibilities include client communications, legal research, and writing, preparing programmatic materials, and advocacy with private entities and government agencies.
