<p>Job Summary</p>
<p>The High School Drama Teacher is responsible for instructing students in theatrical arts—including acting, voice, movement, and stagecraft—within the framework of a classical education rooted in the Catholic tradition. This role includes directing student performances, fostering disciplined creativity, and guiding students to engage dramatic literature in a manner consistent with the school’s mission and moral vision.</p>
<p>Specific Responsibilities</p>
<p>Teach high school drama courses using classical pedagogical methods and age-appropriate theatrical texts.<br />
Instruct students in foundational dramatic skills such as acting technique, voice and diction, movement, character analysis, and ensemble work.<br />
Select, plan, and direct school theatrical productions that reflect artistic excellence and Catholic moral sensibility.<br />
Cultivate an orderly, respectful, and collaborative classroom and rehearsal environment.<br />
Integrate the study of dramatic literature with broader philosophical and Catholic themes.<br />
Assess student learning and performance and provide constructive feedback.<br />
Collaborate with faculty and administration in scheduling, productions, and interdisciplinary initiatives.<br />
Communicate clearly and professionally with parents and school leadership regarding student progress and productions.<br />
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.<br />
Serve as a witness to Christian virtue and professionalism in interactions with students and the wider school community.</p>

<p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p>
<p>Strong knowledge of theatrical arts, dramatic literature, and performance techniques.<br />
Ability to direct and manage rehearsals and productions with clarity, efficiency, and enthusiasm.<br />
Skill in fostering student confidence, discipline, and expressive ability.<br />
Appreciation for classical education and its emphasis on rhetoric, poetics, and the formation of the whole person.<br />
Commitment to the teachings and moral vision of the Catholic Church.<br />
Effective classroom and rehearsal management skills.<br />
Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative abilities.<br />
Willingness to continue professional and artistic development.</p>
<p>Education and Experience</p>
<p>Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.<br />
Teaching experience at the high school level or significant experience in theatrical instruction or directing is preferred.<br />
Teaching certification is preferred but not required for well-qualified candidates.<br />
Familiarity with or openness to classical education and Catholic pedagogy is strongly preferred.</p>
